Priority types
- Organization + WebSite linked via @id
- FAQPage for Q&A types aligned with visible HTML
- SoftwareApplication or Product if you sell software (like Centropic)
- Article / HowTo for evergreen guides with author and date
Regulatory reference: schema.org. In Centropic, the detected types feed AIO/GEO scores (Measured probe).
Common errors
Orphan JSON-LD without key types, sameAs only self-referential, FAQ without acceptedAnswer, Organization without contact or logo. Centropic flags these in the findings.
A sameAs pointing to only the proprietary site is not enough: prefer real external profiles (parent company, directories, verified social).
Minimum checklist
- name + url + email (or telephone) on Organization
- sameAs pointing to real external profiles (not internal site pages)
- logo ImageObject with absolute https URL and caption
- FAQPage only if questions are visible on the page
- knowsAbout aligned with llms.txt and the homepage copy
