How Centropic measures AIO and GEO

AI cannot cite what it cannot read. Centropic makes your brand visible and interpretable to generative crawlers: we close information gaps and entity ambiguity before they become hallucinations. · Aggiornato July 27, 2026 · Autore Engineering Factory · Chi siamo

1. Centropic Visibility Index (CVI)

The CVI is Centropic's proprietary metric: a 0-100 index with a DD→AA letter grade that summarizes how ready a brand is to be read and cited by generative systems.

Operational formula: the average of AIO (readability) and GEO (citability), with penalties for critical/warn findings. It is not an advertising ranking or a guarantee of mentions: it is the Centropic standard for comparing domains and tracking progress over time.

When a marketer asks “what is your CVI?”, they are asking about this structural readiness — not traditional PR impressions.

2. What we check (structural readiness)

HTTP probes and HTML parsing on the same domain: title, meta, JSON-LD, FAQ, robots, llms.txt, sitemap, ai.txt, humans.txt, multi-page crawl. These findings can carry a Measured badge.

Centropic records entities (Organization, sameAs, contacts), copy citability, and policies for AI bots (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended) — the perimeter models must be able to read without ambiguity.

3. AIO / GEO scores (CVI components)

AIO (AI-Driven Visibility) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) are the two 0-100 subscores that feed the CVI: readability for AI systems and citability / crawler policy.

The engine breakdown (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Azure AI) starts as Estimated from the observed structure; on Plus/Business, the citation monitor can add Measured mentions.

4. Citation share (stochastic sample — Plus / Business)

LLM responses are stochastic: this is not advertising “Share of Voice” (impressions/PR), but a sample of mentions across controlled prompts. In the product, the SoV Measured label remains for continuity; methodologically, it is sampled citation share.

  • Customizable prompts in Settings (prompt bank).
  • Measured evidence badges for available engines.
  • Gemini and Azure AI are documented proxies (not native Google AI Overview or native Bing Copilot).

5. Transparency: our promise

  • We guarantee readiness: brands and pages made readable, structured, and reachable by generative crawlers — so AI has real material to cite, not gaps to invent.
  • The pack artifact is ready to publish; go-live on your stack remains under your control (download, Edge, or connector).
  • Citation Share Measured is available on Plus and Business (and Admin) with active API connectors: it measures samples of mentions; it does not sell a “guaranteed position” in third-party UIs.
  • GEO in Centropic does not mean GIS; AIO does not mean All-in-One; CVI is not third-party Domain Authority.
